MOTF Navigator

The Museum of the Future App

About The Navigator App

The Navigator is the official app of the Museum of the Future. It transforms the museum’s future environments into a world that responds and adjusts itself to you - your choices, your interests, your future.

The Navigator equips you with four vital tools:

1. "Pioneer Vision" is the tool that identifies all elements encountered in the museum’s future worlds. It is accessed via a tap.

When you activate Pioneer Vision, the Navigator will scan the area around you. It then retrieves information on the environment and objects in the area.

The results of the scan are presented as "exhibit cards". These collectible cards provide a detailed breakdown of all the elements that make up the museum’s 2071 journey.

2. The "Master Key" is a tool that unlocks and gives access to all interactive elements of the future worlds. It is accessed via a press + hold.

You can use your Master Key to ‘play’ the museum, unlock its hidden content and collect rewards.

3. All your discoveries and interactions during your journey to the future are stored in "My Collection"

This is the permanent record of your journey. Each item collected during a visit stays in your collection when you leave the museum. You can continue building your collection over multiple visits.

4. Your "Pioneer Path" charts your journey through the museum and its future worlds.

The Pioneer Path is unique to you: it reflects the place you went, the things you did and the things which interested you most. It’s the conclusion of the museum’s journey to 2071 and the beginning of the post-visit experience.

The Navigator is specially designed for the Museum of the Future. It can only be fully experienced when you visit the museum.

We hope to see you there soon!

App Permissions & How They Are Used

The Navigator uses the different system features and services. These services facilitate the unique Navigator experience as an extension of the Museum of the Future. The service and the reason we ask for them are articulated below.

Location

The Navigator provides location-aware and location-specific experiences. For this to work we need to know when you are at the museum. This is determined using your GPS location. We use this information only to determine if you are at the museum or not. We do not track your location otherwise.

Bluetooth

The Navigator uses Bluetooth for refined location awareness within the museum. This is used to enable specific interactive elements and personalized experiences within the Museum of the Future.

Notifications

The Navigator may send you notifications related to the interactive in-museum experience. You may control notifications in your device settings.

Camera

The Navigator uses your camera to scan QRCodes. These codes may include your entry ticket, and informational or interactive elements around the museum.

Contacts

Navigator allows you to share your achievements and collections from the app to social media. You may be prompted to allow Contacts permissions to be able to look up the person to whom you wish to share your experience.

Wi-Fi

The Navigator needs to be able to communicate with different systems, both inside and outside the museum. This requires a reliable data connection, such as the museum's WiFi. You may opt to use your cellular data.

NFC

The Navigator uses NFC (also known as RFID) to connect to some of the museum's features. For example access to the museum uses an NFC Wristband. This NFC-ID paired with your app so that your experiences are personalized and available to you as you engage with the features of Navigator.

Storage

Navigator may store content to your device's storage to cache certain content, to facilitate certain features of the app.

Getting Help

The Navigator is designed as an extension of the interactive experiences at the Museum of the Future. It's best not to think of Navigator like a traditional app.

You may have many questions about the Navigator and the other interactives once you arrive at the Museum of the Future.

Always feel free to reach out to the Museum of the Future ambassadors who are available around the museum. They will ease your journey to the future.
