About the Speaker:


With a PhD in Engineering Science from Osaka University, Professor ISHIGURO Hiroshi has been a prominent figure in the field of robotics since 2009. He is affiliated with the Graduate School of Informatics at Kyoto University and the Graduate School of Engineering Science at Osaka University. His fundamental research focuses on intelligent systems, aiming to create robots that are actively integrated into society.


Professor Ishiguro's work in robotics spans various domains. Initially, he concentrated on industrial robots, addressing challenges related to navigation and manipulation. However, he has also been a global pioneer in researching robots for daily activities, with a particular emphasis on human-robot interaction.


Throughout his illustrious career, Professor Ishiguro has received numerous accolades. In 2011, he was awarded the Osaka Culture Prize and received the Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. In 2015, he was honored with the Sheikh Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award. Since 2017, he has held the title of honorary professor at Osaka University.
